ANCST is the long-running creative outlet of Berlin-based musician Tomisthebastard. Since 2011, it has grown into a fully self-contained body of work that connects extreme music, electronics and visual art into one cohesive world. What began as a personal home-recording project has developed into an extensive catalog of releases and a powerful live experience.

Blending hardcore and metal roots, ANCST has crafted a sonic fusion of fierce melodic black metal, punishing death metal, metallic hardcore, neocrust, scramz, industrial and grindcore — but it doesn’t stop there. Rather than following a single genre, ANCST has also ventured deep into electronic music, releasing a string of works that connect dark ambient, drone, noise, breakcore and drum & bass. ANCST’s music isn’t just a sonic assault; it is also a canvas for angry, critical and deeply personal social-political expression, never shying away from uncomfortable topics.

Over the years, ANCST has released more than 30 records across vinyl, CD, tape and digital formats, including collaborations with labels such as Lifeforce Records, Vendetta Records, Alerta Antifascista and Supreme Chaos Records, but most material has been released through Tom’s own label Yehonala Tapes. ANCST releases are not just products on a shelf — they are often unique, sometimes completely handmade artifacts that reflect a deep connection to DIY culture. Hand-cut records, obsolete formats like MiniDisc or floppy disk, hand-assembled covers, unconventional printing methods — ANCST has consistently pushed physical releases far beyond standard formats.

Since becoming a live act in 2014, ANCST has played around 400 shows in over 20 countries and completed more than 15 tours, most of them booked by Tom himself. The project has played everything from DIY backyard shows and squats to major festival stages such as Summer Breeze, Full Force, Fluff Fest and Fusion. Driving themselves, running their own merch and carrying their own equipment, ANCST has remained committed to DIY touring and the reality of life on the road.
